To kiss or to be kissed, that is the question...

Hi, my name is Emma and I´m one of the YHM young ambassadors. Here are my thoughts and observations on young people and relationships.

No doubt one you’ve asked yourself, who might your first kiss be with and when might it happen. You might have it all planned out with that person you’ve had a crush on for months or maybe you’re just waiting for the right person to come along, but however it may happen it shouldn’t be out of

peer pressure or society's expectations.

I’m 18 years old and I’ve never been kissed, I’ve never had a boyfriend and that’s totally okay! There’s no need to go rushing into the world of relationships just because other people have. It doesn’t matter if you have your first boyfriend/girlfriend at 14 or 34. It’s about your own happiness, and you can´t aim to find that in that significant other. I’m not saying that it isn’t possible to fall in love at 16 and live happily ever after, I am just saying that as long it’s what you want and you know you’re ready for it.

I’ve spoken to countless people who say they regret jumping into these things too young, you just get your heart broken because it wasn’t the right time. You can fall in love at any age just make sure it is the right time for you, and don’t let others tell you that you have to have your first kiss at 13 or lose your virginity by 17.

Life is not about living up to others expectations, it’s about breaking your own! So whenever that first kiss happens, make sure it is with the right one.
